Fashion Eyeglasses & Sunglasses Fall 2014

Here is a great review of fashion eyeglasses for Fall 2014.

You will find that eyeglasses, be they prescription eyeglasses, or fashion eyeglasses (sunglasses) have not really changed much in trend in the last year or so. Looking at the New York Fashion Week attendees one sees that the fashion on the street is very much the same in terms of glasses.

I just reacted to NYFW Street Style Day 5. Check it out!

Though there seems to be little change in the actually frame shapes…we do indeed see a lot of innovation when it comes to the coloring, styling as well as the frame materials that are being used.

We see the same trends on Harper’s London Street Style Report (see photo below). Stylin’ like the 50’s or 60’s working with nostalgic costumes that invoke that era.

Cat eyeglasses, 50’s sunglasses styles.

Everything from soft transparent frames in soft colors, to big black frames in a variety of some wild and others not-so-wild frame types.
The wayfarer frame shapes for sunglasses, or for clear fashion eyeglasses are still going hot. Just have more fun with the colors and even blend in with your outfit or be bold and stand out. The classic or retro glasses styles of wayfarer frames are also still going on, pick em big to emphasis you lips and nose.
Aviator frames continue too…again you can be more playful with the colors and the frame type choosing plastic frames as well as the old stand by in metal. Here you can also pep up your look with some cool retro eyedrop shaped glasses, or cat eyeglasses that are a bit softer in the angling.
The next continuing trend in also more fun and playful varieties are the round eyeglasses (also retro glasses) You can have these as sunglasses, prescription sunglasses/ eyeglasses as well as clear fashion glasses; either way you are in the trend!
Enjoy these wonderful pictures to give you a visual of some of the trendy glasses available.

Summer Favourite Tortoiseshell Sunglasses…

This summer the coolest styles in sunglasses for men are the tortoise shell sunglasses. Whether  hanging at the beach or pool or off to an  event tortoise is the the way to go.

Inspired by JFK seen below stylin’ retro tortoise shades..with plenty of celebrities following suit, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp to name a few..

We also see that with the death of Robin Williams (RIP) all eyes have turned to the Deat Poet’s Society and tortoise shell sunnies are right in step with this renewing trend.

Odd how these things work, isn’t it…

But as tradition predicts, what’s the hippest fall wear for eyeglasses…tortoise shell!

Vintage sunglasses on celebrities: Who wore what?

The fashion trends (eyeglasses or any other fashion item) seen on our celebrities has always impressed us one way or another. Love it or not what they wear and how they look seems to get very big notice from us. Countless fashion magazines and news articles alike take advantage of this fact, by drawing attention to themselves using the images of celebrities that seem to draw us in like flies.

Today, though we are in the information age, with so much at our fingertips but in the days of yore we still found ways to see and hear about our famous heroes using the traditional media. Fashion has always been keen to keep up with the rich and the famous and the trends that they picked up on.

Jackie Onasis (Kennedy)….she intrigued and excited the imagination of the popular culture and influenced fashion with her flair and touch for sophisticated fashion. On the other hand, Elton John, with his flair for funk bordering on shock always kept us wondering what will he wear next. Then there are the icons that we are drawn to and because we admire or they repel us we are somehow drawn to their style and eventually seem to want to emulate them.

Movies like “Top Gun” gave us a new look at the old aviator glasses that we had seen in style in the 70’s. Now in the 80’s Top Gun’s Tom Cruise showed us that those aviators were still cool and now he was taking them to another level….we followed. Today this style revamped by Ray ban has been seen over and over again since the 2012’s as a trend that is still going strong.

We have gathered some pictures of celebrities in the past that have and continue to shape the fashion of eyewear. And as we know fashion goes around in circles…those “retro” styles are in fashion again…

See some here on our  who wore what (celebrity eyeglasses)

and here’s a great blog with more pictures for you to browse…

Enjoy

Spring 2014 Eyeglasses Trends – Best Picks Around “Town”

Spring 2014 Eyeglasses Trends

As Spring is upon us we have a few picks from around town to give you a good idea of what is in store for Spring 2014 Eyeglasses Trends, this will help us all know what the directions will be in the coming summer months in accessories fashion.

More big glasses: relevant is cat-eyeglasses, big sunglasses and anything funky and in your face.

Have a look see what you think for the Spring 2014 Eyeglasses Trends…this from Harper’s Bazzar .Cool tinted lenses in aviator frames inspired by retro designs and animal printed funk essential frames are some of the styles you will see.

From Burberry’s we see a completely different look…more sixties type smaller more oval shape in white no less. But still reminiscing about the fashions of old, with just the slightest of that Burberry twist.

On Forbes there is a nice collection of trends one of which from Prada has now been coined as the mathematical-look; which is basically a uni-brow look, but a bit cooler than just a straight line.  Then there is the “aquatic look”, which is softer and a shade or shades of blue giving it a nautical feel. The “garden look” has a printed frame in colors pink, white and some orange..colors more like flowers.

Cavalli on the other hand shows updated versions of cat-eye sunglasses that are very cool.

Though looking around on the streets we see more of the same from celebs and fashionistas retro looks seem to still be on the plate.  Plenty of looks from the 60’s and 70’s…retro wayfarer shapes, aviator shapes as well as the big, big eyeglasses…and big sunglasses as in the days of Jackie O.

And for the latest is Fashion week in Copenhagen looking at the Street Styles

there are the round glasses, the aviator and the wayfarers…they all reign strong on the styling streets of this very design oriented European city.

One of the strongest trends and most fun are colored tints on the eyeglasses that just give a very sleek look.
